Topic:  Sundance, The first practical solar airplane

SPEAKER: Dr. John Hunter

John obtained his doctorate in theoretical particle physics from The College of William and Mary in 1984.  He ran the Super High Altitude Research Project (SHARP) 400 foot long hydrogen gas gun in the 90s at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. SHARP launched scramjets at Mach 9 and set other records.  He founded Water Station in 2000, a non-profit supplying water to desert travelers at 140 Water Stations on the Southern California border.  Dr. Hunter also started Citizens for All American Canal Safety, which resulted in the installation of 100 safety lines with buoys in the All American Canal.  John worked with a Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory team delivering gun truck armor kits to US soldiers in Iraq during 2004 and 2005. He has appeared on 60 Minutes, USA today, Smithsonian Magazine and the National Enquirer. Dr. Hunter currently manages two companies: Sundance Solar LLC and Star Sports LLC.
